Abandoned by its owner, this clam shell was found on the shore at Crystal Cove State Park early Saturday morning, April 26, 2003.

A vivid blue morning, that one.

The 46 wood-frame cottages at Crystal Cove State Park are architectural anachronisms. Located on a verdant, sloped hillside that levels out as it ends at the Pacific Ocean’s shoreline, the cottages are typical of a California beach community of the early 1900s.
